Airborne Ultrasound - Level 1 Certification Course (30th May to 2nd June 2016)

This is the Airborne Ultrasound Level I Certification Course to be held in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. The course will be conducted by trainer (Mr. Mark Goodman) from UE Systems Inc who was the technical director of UE Systems and has about 38 years experience with this ultrasound equipment. The course contents are recommended by ASNT (American Society for Nondestructive Testing) SNT-TC-1A practices and standard.

Leak Detection: Concepts of Leak Detection, Fluids Defined, Leak Rates, Acoustic Properties of a Leak, Types of Leaks, Leak Strategies, Leak Detection Methods: Pressure, Vacuum, Ultrasonic Sound Generation, Liquid Leak Amplification, Gross-to-Fine Method, Leak Confirmation Methods, Working in Noisy Environments, Shielding Techniques, Inspecting Heat Exchangers, Conducting a Compressed Air Leak Survey: determining CFM loss, computing energy savings, carbon footprint reduction, recording and reporting survey results.

Steam Trap Inspection: Steam Applications, Steam Trap types, Acoustic properties, Inspection Techniques, Recording and reporting

Day 3 Electrical Inspection: Safety Considerations, Overview of Types of Electrical Equipment, Voltages Defined, Acoustic Effects Versus Heat Generated Defects, Integration of Ultrasound and Infrared Methods, Detection Methods for High Voltage Equipment, Overview of Equipment for High Voltage Inspection, Detection Methods, Confirmation Methods, Substation Inspection, Radio Frequency Interference, Television Frequency Interference Detection Methods, Spectral Analysis of common electric emissions. Contact approach, Mechanical Inspection overview, Valves, Compressor inspection, Hydraulic Valves.

Considerations of Ultrasonic Generation, Strategies of Mechanical Inspection, Review of Proactive and Predictive Maintenance Concepts, Generic Trouble Shooting Methods, Generic Trending Methods
Day 4 Mechanical Inspection: Inspection of Compressors, Gears, Pumps, Motors, Fans, Isolating Sound Sources, Bearing Inspection/Trending Concepts, Condition Based Lubrication, Lubrication Starvation, Over Lubrication, Levels of Failure, Monitoring, Data Logging, Sound Analysis and Recording methods, Sound Spectral Analysis, Data Management, Recording and Reporting Results.

Review of Airborne Ultrasound Technology, Applications and Methods, Practical Experience Review, and General, Specific and Practical Examination.

At UE Training Systems Inc., Airborne Ultrasound Level I Training is designed to meet the requirements of the American Society for Nondestructive Testing Recommended Practice, SNT-TC-1A. Airborne Ultrasound Level I will cover the following topics:

INSTRUCTOR PROFILE

Mark Goodman has served as the Vice President of Engineering of UE Systems since 1975, where he has been responsible for the designing the Ultrasound Detection and Monitoring Equipment. Mark is a member of ASME, ASNT, ASTM, IEEE and ISO and ISA. He Co-Authored the Ultrasound Section of ASNT LEAK TESTING NDT HANDBOOK, and sits on the Leak Detection Committees for both ASNT and ASTM. Mr. Goodman is Covener of the ISO Committee: Condition Monitoring and Diagnotic of Machines – Using Airborne/Structure Borne Ultrasound.

 

Douglas Waetjen has served as the Vice President of global Operations of UE System. He have served company for more over 25 years and responsible for the education and technical the Ultrasound Detection Equipment for our global customer. He is the CMRP (The Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) certificated person. He had been provided the training solutions to multi-international corporation for operating effectively and efficiently.
